Sales Tax Update

As states need more money to balance their budgets they are turning to indirect taxes. Other than raising rates, states are getting more aggressive in audits, and they are expanding the tax base and what is taxable as a means to increase revenue. Get informed about recent legislative developments and applicable cases. There will be time for discussion with presenters and other attendees to improve your compliance and limit exposure.

This session will include a review of best practices for all types of audits, including methods for handling issues that arise during audits, a review of audit trends, including information on aggressive jurisdictions, plus open discussion of issues that attendees are currently dealing with.

Management, compliance, controversy, and customer tax matters are increasingly dependent on easy access to high quality data and the tools needed to manage that data. This panel session will touch on types of technology leveraged by leasing Tax teams to facilitate and streamline tax management, as well as best practices for managing technology touchpoints for Tax leadership. The panel will touch on various topics including:

Property Tax Updates and Best Practices

In this session we will discuss property tax legislative updates, best practices, audit and appeal trends, and unique challenges with leased vehicles. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and participate in the discussion.

Federal and State Income Tax Update

Last August, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act (the Act) into law including an investment of over $369 billion in energy security and renewable energy. Our panel will discuss the effects the Act has had on equipment finance companies and their customers and will touch on topics such as: Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax; monetization strategies including transfers of credits; “direct pay” and traditional tax equity financing; the ongoing regulatory process of interpreting and implementing the Act and the State and Local tax impacts. A special focus will be placed on how the Federal income tax changes from the Act impact SALT compliance and administration.
