ELFA Coronavirus Update

Due to growing health concerns related to the COVID-19 coronavirus, ELFA has postponed or cancelled a number of upcoming events. These changes are in keeping with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which as of March 16 is urging a nationwide halt to gatherings of more than 50 people for the next eight weeks. We are monitoring health professional advice and updates from the CDC and WHO regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus and following the guidelines from these agencies and local health departments, and will make any necessary modifications to our event schedule as needed to ensure the health and safety of our members, staff, vendors and others. REGISTRATION PRIOR TO April 10 IS REQUIRED FOR ATTENDANCE

Capitol Hill Meeting Assignments
ELFA will create individualized schedules with our target list of elected officials in the House and Senate for each attendee. Congressional offices are alerted to those scheduled to visit the office and expect to see those listed.
Registered attendees will be assigned meetings based on geographic location. If you have a relationship with a specific member of Congress, please contact Chelsea Neil (cneil@elfaonline.org) to discuss.
Attendees will be able to view their individual schedules by logging into the ELFA Capitol Connections flyin website after May 8. Do not plan travel based on the online schedule! Due to the nature of scheduling with congressional offices, attendees will receive a final listing of meeting assignments onsite at the meeting registration.
Special Note
Attendees should plan to arrive in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 19. Travel home should not be scheduled on Wednesday, May 20 until after 8:30 pm. If you have specific circumstances, please contact Chelsea Neil to discuss.
Each attendees' schedule is tailored to give the maximum impact for ELFA's advocacy efforts. Since each schedule is individualized, it is critical that any changes in attendance are communicated to Chelsea Neil prior to arrival.
Issue Briefing
To prepare you on the issue that will be discussed during Capitol Connections, ELFA will host a webinar on Wednesday, April 29. Afterwards, the webinar will be available online. Additional materials will be provided on the Capitol Connections website; as well as a link to your individualized schedule with background on the congressional offices you will visit.
Registered attendees will be given prior notice of policy updates and provided with printed materials when they pick up their registration materials on-site.
First Time Attendee Webinar
For those attending their first Capitol Connections event, we will host a webinar on Wednesday, May 6 to prep you on what to expect during a Hill meeting. As well as other logistical information.

Hotel Information

Phone-In Reservations
You can make reservations by calling 1-800-321-3010 (or direct to hotel at 1-202-628-2100), provide your arrival and departure dates and mention the group name “ELFA Room Block” in order to receive the ELFA group rate.  Reservations should be guaranteed with a credit card and made before the cut-off date of Tuesday, April 21, 2020. After the cut-off date, rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis and possibly at a higher rate.
   
Getting There  
The Washington Court Hotel is located in the heart of the distinctive Capitol Hill neighborhood only 3 blocks from the U.S. Capitol. You will find that the hotel is a ten-minute walk from the National Mall, which is home to dozens of renowned monuments and free museums. Less than 2 blocks away is historic Union Station, offering an impressive variety of shopping, dining, entertainment and transportation alternatives.
 
The hotel is near the Union Station subway stop (red line), bringing the best of the capital area to your door, it's about an 8-minute walk to the hotel. It is also 15 minutes from Ronald Reagan National Airport. Approximate cost to the hotel is $2.50 (by Metro) and $25.00 (by taxi)
